At the 2026 Housing Fair in Saikka, Lempäälä, there will be plenty of new ideas for decorating children's rooms. Lasten Satumetsä has designed the children's rooms for the properties Saikan Tuntu, Saikan Taikuri, and Casa Onnenkivi, combining timeless design, play-enabling solutions, and spaces that adapt as the child grows.
We will explore the children's rooms in these three show homes and highlight current trends in interior design – nature-inspired colors, thoughtfully chosen furniture, and details that make a child's own room a cozy, functional, and imagination-fueling environment. These properties offer plenty of practical ideas and inspiration for decorating a child's room, whether the goal is to create a peaceful resting place, an inspiring play environment, or a combination of both.
Property 1. Saikan Tuntu
The children's room in the Saikan Tuntu property is decorated for a 2-year-old child transitioning from a crib to a bigger bed. The entire room's decor is sourced from the Lasten Satumetsä online store. The goal was to create a safe, functional, warm, and cozy environment in line with the Satumetsä concept.
The Inmondo Miyo house bed was chosen for the room, with its practical storage drawers adding extra storage space. A soft Letti bumper was added inside the bed to make sleeping even more comfortable and safe. A suitably sized table and chair were also chosen for the toddler, along with versatile baskets for play and storing items. The Pinion Swing model was selected as a bookshelf, combining open shelves and cabinet storage. Clear and versatile storage simplifies daily life and makes the shelf an excellent choice for a child's room.
For the playroom, a Stapelstein block set and a Wigiwama play module were selected. They offer versatile opportunities for active play, building, and using imagination. The lightweight and easily adaptable elements encourage children to move, experiment, and invent new games day after day. At the same time, they serve as a stylish part of the room's decor and blend harmoniously with the overall design.
Property 2. Saikan Taikuri
The theme for this children's room is Ocean, bringing a calm, maritime atmosphere to the space. The residents of the room wished for a high-quality Wood Luck Design junior bed and a matching wardrobe, creating a timeless and harmonious foundation for the overall design.
The Dream Ocean wall sticker, chosen for the wall, is the room's focal point. Its soft and fairytale-like appearance perfectly matches the entire house's ambiance and color scheme, bringing a touch of imagination and oceanic magic to the space.
The room's decor is complemented by the Book Nook Montessori bookshelf, which is both beautiful and practical. Displaying the front covers encourages children to pick up books independently, while the shelf provides convenient storage for small treasures, toys, and other important items.
Joyful play and movement are brought to the room by FitWood's wall bars and play arch, inviting children to active and developmental play. The products, elegantly integrated into the decor, encourage natural movement, climbing, and body control exercises, and offer opportunities for diverse play day after day.
The overall design creates a warm, inviting, and child-centric space that combines functionality, quality furniture, and thoughtful details. The peaceful shades of the Ocean theme and carefully chosen interior elements make the room a place where it's wonderful to play, learn, rest, and dream.
Property 3. Casa Onnenkivi
The residents of this lovely house contacted us about a month before the Housing Fair. They wished to have the children's rooms decorated as quickly as possible.
This room already had a wonderful fairytale forest atmosphere, but furniture was still missing.
For the room, the Inmondo Collet desk in Cashmere, the Bellamy wall shelf in Latte, Fitwood's large floor cushion, and a Wigiwama bean bag chair were chosen. Lorena Canals' flower cushions beautifully complete the look.
We wanted to bring more functionality and coziness to the room by selecting furniture and decor elements that are both inviting for play and visually stylish.
